Birth of a New AI-Enhanced Social App
āSocial media isnāt social ā itās performative. Whereās the chitchat, the banter, the easy laughter? We made something new. Push-to-talk, whenever you want. With perfect transcripts and AI art. A dinner party in your pocket.ā
This was the announcement for Navalās new app Airchat, a new social media app that is like a combo of TikTok and Twitter plus AI art.
Itās fully async conos with automatic language translation, AI art, and more. Itās currently on limited access right now, but it looks pretty slick!
āIt has the sleekest AI translation experience and art generations,ā wrote AI investor and builder Ben Tossell.
āI've had multi-day multi-party nuanced conversations on AirChat, and it feels really different as a format from anything else out there,ā wrote Replit founder Amjad Masad. āIt unlocks something new.ā
āAirChat is the best thing to happen to French people since sliced baguette,ā wrote founder Alex Masmej. āFrance has many educated critical thinkers who suck at Englishā effectively blocked from participating in the global intellectual discourse about tech, climate or our future. RIP language barriers.ā
Thereās been some pretty crazy use cases so far.
Looks amazing, hope to get access soon!! Will keep you updated.
The Generative AI Gaming Revolution
Generative AI is here. And itās hitting gaming hard!
āThere hasnāt been a technology this revolutionary for gaming since real-time 3D,ā wrote venture firm Andreessen Horowitz (a16z). āArtists are now creating high-quality images in a matter of hours that would otherwise take weeks to generate by hand.ā
In their newest report on generative AI in gaming, a16z listed out a few major predictions for the next few years. While Hollywood and gaming are different, there are many major parallels.
Hereās a few of a16zās major predictions:
Learning how to use Generative AI effectively will become a marketable skill. āAs content becomes abundant, we believe itās the artists who knows how to work most collaboratively and effectively with the AI tools who will be in the most short supply.ā Same with the movie biz or any other field of entertainment. Supply and demand!
The price of content will drop dramatically, going effectively to zero in some cases. One developer told a16z that their time to generate concept art for a single image dropped from 3 weeks to a single hour. Artists wonāt be replaced, but they will work much faster. āItās the āauto-completeā for game creation. Using generative AI tools will make it much easier and more accessible to build games. Same with movies, TV shows, etc.
A rise in AI-assisted āmicro game studiosā. a16z believes we will start to see more viable commercial games produced by tiny studios of 1 or 2 employees. This will result in an increase in the number of games released each year. The same could be said about movies, TV, animations, YouTube, etc.
As my friend Jordan Mix says, āweāre all learning how to talk to robots!ā
Itās true. No matter what part of the entertainment biz youāre in, itās time to start mastering AI tools.
